Quick answer: RingtoneDownload.org is an independent site that offers free ringtones you can trust. Every tone is made by us, commissioned from paid musicians and reciters, or released under an open licence, and we keep proof of the rights for each one.

Why we built this site

Most free ringtone sites are full of pop-ups, fake download buttons and songs uploaded without permission. Tones vanish overnight, and you never know where a file came from. We wanted something better: a fast, clean site where you can play a tone, download it in one tap and know it is safe to use.

So we set three rules from day one:

1. Free and simple. No sign-up, no app, no download timers.
2. Useful files. Every tone comes as an MP3 for Android and an M4R for iPhone, with balanced volume and clear setup steps.
3. Clean rights. No tone goes live unless we can prove we are allowed to share it.

Who makes the ringtones?

Our tones come from four sources, and the licence of each one is shown on its page:

• Original tones. Composed, played and produced by us in our own studio software. This includes most of our piano, instrumental, notification and message tones.
• Commissioned tones. Made for us by musicians, singers, naat khawans and voice artists we pay. Each one signs a written agreement that gives us full rights to share the tone.
• Open-licence tones. A small number of sounds released under CC0 (public domain) or CC BY. For CC BY tones, we show the creator's name and licence on the tone page, as the licence requires.
• Licensed tones. Sounds we use with written permission from the owner.

What we never upload

To keep every tone safe for you, we do not upload:

• Songs, film music, TV themes, game music or advert jingles
• Bollywood, Lollywood, Tamil or Telugu BGM, or clips of famous artists
• Apple's built-in iPhone tones or the default sounds of any app
• Naat, nasheed, Quran or azan recordings taken from TV, YouTube or famous reciters
• Sounds from libraries whose licence does not allow ringtone sites, even if they are "free"

How do we check every licence?

Before a tone is published, it goes through the same five checks:

1. Source check. We confirm who created the sound and where it came from.
2. Licence check. The licence must be one we allow: original, commissioned, CC0, CC BY or a written licence.
3. Proof saved. We store a copy of the proof, such as the project file, the signed agreement or the licence page, for every tone. Our build system will not publish a tone without it.
4. Credit added. If the licence needs a credit, it is shown on the tone page.
5. Sound check. We trim the tone, balance the volume, test it on Android and iPhone speakers and make sure the iPhone file fits Apple's length limit.

What if something slips through?

We are careful, but nobody is perfect. Every tone page has a Report this tone link. If you believe a tone uses your work without permission, please tell us through our DMCA page. We take the tone down while we review it, usually within 48 hours.
